Holy Greens

Hello my lovelies! If it’s one thing Stockholm has a good offering of on the food scene, it’s salad bars! An absolute gem of a place is Holy Greens in Mood (a shopping centre). They are amazing! I was there twice during my stay and I can’t get over how delicious and flavoursome their food is. It’s such a great pit stop when you’re running about in town and want to grab something quick.

I first discovered Holy Greens when Jamie and I were in Stockholm in January last year and we both loved it. For Jamie to love a salad bar it needs to be something special so that says a lot. I’ve always had the same salad there and haven’t dared to try anything else because this salad is perfection. It’s called “Grönsakslandet” it’s got red quinoa, beetroot hummus, avocado, ginger pickled carrot, broccoli, cucumber, sprouts and pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Yum! I add falafel to it as well because how could you say no to falafel when it’s on offer? This is hands down one of the more filling and delicious salads I’ver ever had. It’s also served with a dressing but I’ve never felt the salad needed anything more on it so I’ve never actually tried it.

When I was there with Anki she had the “Geta Beta” it’s got goats cheese, black rice, yellow beetroot, edamame beans, kale, pickled red onion, walnuts and pea sprouts. She gave it a thumbs up too!

So how are you guys today? I’m slowly starting to feel like this cold is turning around. I’ve started to sleep through the night again without waking up from coughing (winning!). I’ve been drinking so many ginger shots. I’ve juiced ginger, squeezed half a lemon and added turmeric powder to the shots hoping it will heal me. I don’t know if it’s them or if my body is just slowly starting to recover on it’s own. Hovewer, I’m not questioning it, I’m just happy something is happening.

I had a lovely day yesterday. It started off with a session at G5 and then I joined Stella and Kilo for brunch at Gusto. We had a great chat and it was great to hear her thoughts on some things I’d been thinking about. After brunch we went for a walk with Kilo in the park before she gave me a lift home.

In the evening I had my girls Faye and Kate over for dinner. I served bean chilli with baked sweet potato, exactly the kind of food you want to eat when it’s so cold outside! Glasgow has been baltic once again these past couple of days. Faye even brought some raw dessert for us to share afterward whilst we were having tea. Then we collapsed in my living room on the sofas. I had the worst stomach pain I’d had in a while. I ate that food far too quickly and had had irregular meals yesterday which really throws my stomach off for some reason. Either why it was so nice to have them over. Those two make me laugh so much.

Today I need to head to the post office to pick up some parcels I’ve missed when I’ve been out of the flat and then I need to continue the job hunt, spend some time with Jamie and then it’s time for another session at G5 tonight.
